Beaches in Minorque

Because of the geography and the natural conditions of the island, there is a big difference between the south and the north coast. On the south we will find quiet beaches with white sand and extensive vegetation. On the north coast the beaches are wilder, located in bays or sheltered areas because of Tramontana winds. The beaches have less vegetation

and the sand is also a bit thicker and darker. It’s easy to find incredible scenery.

We are going to highlight the top 5 beaches in Minorque, the most beautiful and singular beaches in the island. Don’t miss the opportunity to discover Minorque.

Cala TurquetaCala Turqueta it’s probably the most famous beach. It’s known for its beautiful turquoise water and white sand. The beach is hidden between pines, but it’s easily accessible by foot (10 minutes walk). If you want to get a place in the sand you must go early.

Cala MacarellaCala Macarella and Macarelleta are the most beautiful beaches in Minorque. Macarella is the largest beach and it’s close to Macallareta (10 minutes walking), you can also go swimming. Macaralleta is a nudist beach but not exclusively. It is easy to get there, although the path is not very comfortable, but it’s certainly worth it. Cala Galdana is 30 minutes walking.

Cala en PorterCala en Porter is an awesome beach surrounded by cliffs, it’s known for its incredible blue sea and very fine sand. The beach also has restaurants, showers,… and many facilities. Cala en Porter is one of the cleanest and quiet beaches in Minorque, undoubtedly the best beach to go with kids. It’s located close to the Cova d’en Xoroi, the prefect place for a drink.

Cala PilarCala Pilar is a red virgin beach, on the north of the island. We get there after an uncomfortable walk (one hour). Before coming to Cala Pilar check the weather conditions, because sometimes the waves are very strong and it’s not possible to swim. Cala Pilar is a beautiful marine reserve with an amazing underwater life, so we recommend you to do snorkel.

Cala PregondaCala Pregonda, also in the north of the island is recommended by the inhabitants of Minorque. It’s a singular beach, different from other beaches on the island. You will surprise with its red color sand, the cliffs and the small islands in the middle of the bay. To get there you have to walk 30 minutes.

  1. A big thanks for the wonderful beaches information in detail. This would help me in deciding my best travel destinations and enjoy my summer vacations on one of the romantic  beaches. I would be more happy if I got some private villa information. Thanks in advance.
